Graham Bowers“It feels more comfortable to describe this area of my work as ‘Structures, Sculptures and Danceworks’, a more appropriate description, as they all derive from the same common source of imagination and vision. Personally I would prefer to simplify the title as ‘Structures’, as I regard any object as a structure, whether it be a microbe, a plant, a tree, a dog, a human, a building, or a sculpture. All structures have movement, and the detection of the magnitude is simply down to the type of measuring equipment used, in the case of danceworks it is down to our eyes. The effects on our receptive senses, and the response to what we see, is what makes us all slightly different, as we are all structures responding to structures. If the human eye were capable of viewing a living biological cell and witness the complex and orderly day to day activities that it undertakes in response, and in tandem to, the trillions of others that make up the overall structure to which it belongs, then an appreciation of ‘all that is’ would surely be enhanced.” All Structures and Sculptures illustrated are both public and private commisions, and are at present in private collections and on view in the foyers of Concert Halls and Universities. |

Illustrations of a 3D Scan
of the figurative sculpture 'Captured Dynamic
#03' originally modeled in clay ... all
the above images were generated in a 3D
CAD program after importing the Scan file
... the Scan generated over 1.2 million
vertices (dots) in three dimensional space,
the basis of which enabled the modeling
of 750,000 facets (triangular faces) that
form a virtual surface. The computer file
is then be interfaced with various machines
to produce a physical replication, in this
instance the sculpture has been replicated
by the Fused Deposition Modeling process.
